Virginia City Attractions
Area Map/Links
The Stonehouse Inn is located on a quiet street only blocks away from downtown Virginia City. After beginning your day with one of our gourmet breakfasts, you may tour historical sites in and around Virginia City. Narrated tours in a vintage fire truck or a horse drawn coach provide interesting insight into the history of Virginia City. Many small shops line the main street for gifts and souvenirs. A short ride on a small work train or a restored 1912 Baldwin steam engine will take you to Nevada City, a restored eighteenth century ghost town. There you can enjoy the extensive collection of antique music machines, admire the old steam locomotives and take a peek at how early settlers lived in the 1800's. Nightly in Virginia City, melodramas and vaudeville performances are presented by the Illustrious Virginia City Players at the Opera House as well as the Brewery Follies presented at the historic Gilbert Brewery. Stop by the Bale of Hay Saloon after the play and enjoy the local watering hole. We will be glad to make reservations for you at the play or follies.

Shop in the Adobe Town School house where the local artisans display their wares for sale. Other artisans demonstrate their crafts at the canvassed topped buildings next door and on weekends there is a farmer's market featuring produce from heirloom seeds. Walk up the boardwalk and peek into the Dance and Stuart general store, one of the many original buildings from the 1800's. Visit the Thompson-Hickman Museum which houses many artifacts from Virginia City's past.
